5 main trends in contemporary art.

Contemporary art is no longer contemporary. Contemporary art with all its postmodern tricks was invented a century ago.Skinned cow carcasses, video performances - at first it was fascinating, but the question arises, what next? Will artists be able to come up with something even more abstract and incomprehensible than Kazimir Malevich's square and Jackson Pollock's spray?

Think outside the box, - advised the well known Banksy. New trends in art and art market came from an unexpected side.

Trend number 1.

Hand-drawn picture: the return to the throne

According to critics, the picture has recently "died", being crowded out by other forms of art - video art, installation ... At the end of zero years, the situation changed dramatically: the picture was revived as a genre.

The border between fine art (“fine art”, made in the old manner, with a brush on canvas) and actual art (with its deliberate insanity and non-formalism) - suddenly disappeared.

The spectators, and first of all - the artists themselves - terribly missed the paintings in the traditional sense. However, in order to attract attention in the giant, oversaturated art market, the picture must be really talented

Czech artists Svetlana Kurmaz and Alexander Sokht are bright representatives of the new trend. Famous in Europe and the USA, they are almost unknown in Russia. The couple have emigrated to Prague for a long time. Pretty quickly their work gained success with the Western community.

Russian immigrants with a difficult fate are now included in the list of the most sought-after participants in the prestigious world art fairs and biennials.

Interface revolution: you draw on a tablet, it turns out a canvas painted with oil colours. The widespread use of iPad seriously affected on the technology of creating paintings. For example, diasec frontal printing has become popular: a principle similar to photo printing, paints are applied to acrylic.

A bright representative of this trend is Alexander Soht. He creates his works in graphic programs, which he then transfers to canvas, paper or diasec. Thus, innovative techniques help the evolution of the creative method.

Democratization of the art market: now art is collected not by bored millionaires, but ordinary students and housewives.

Amazing fact: the original work of the famous master can now cost less than $ 100. The European audience has already tasted the delights of art shopping and massively buys the work of contemporaries.

Democratization of prices for high art is especially noticeable on the example of the long-term success of the largest international fair AAF (Affordable Art Fair, “Fair of Affordable Art”).

For its organizers the most important criterion for the selection of works is their cost: it should not exceed the price ceiling available to people of moderate means.

"Author's Original" - an idea that is rapidly changing the art market.

The marketing of the epoch of copy-paste and repost reinterpreted the ideas of Warhol in a new way: the picture can now be produced in several versions and with different prices.

For example, works of the same Kurmaz and Sokhta are quite expensive. But they came up with a strategy that allows you to capture three different price categories. The strategy is achieved by issuing a limited edition on paper and copyright canvases.

That’s why the work can exist in five copies, but each of them is the original, which is confirmed by an internationally certified certificate.

Galleries are now opened not by gallery owners, but by the artists themselves.

The most important trend: the personal gallery of artists becomes the main place for interaction of participants in the art market. This is the same as a small shop, where the owner himself stands behind the counter.

For example, in the center of Prague, Kurmaz and Soht have their own gallery, created for exhibiting themselves. Perhaps this is one of the most successful versions of the modern gallery, exhibiting and selling art, since everything necessary is merged here - a clear concept, goals and objectives of the artist. This is the type of the gallery of the future, because in modern art, everything is simplified.

In this case, the Facebook and Twitter mechanic works. Direct communication between the author and connoisseurs of his work becomes a better strategy than communication through agents and buyers.
